The majority of SAMPAC and FMA PAC endorsed candidates in Sarasota County all won by considerable margins.  Unfortunately there was one loss.  Rep. Keith Fitzgerald, a faithful advocate for both PACs, lost to Ray Pilon by 1,380 votes after a hard fought campaign. SAMPAC thanks Keith for numerous years of his commitment and support of all issues related to medicine. His presence in the House will be missed by all physicians whose only desire is to practice medicine without interference. It is our intention to establish the same relationship with our newly elected representative.  Be assured, SAMPAC officers will be visiting Mr. Pilon in the near future. We’ve got a lot of things to discuss before the next legislative session in March of 2011.Delegation_dinner

U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan won convincingly against James T. Golden to secure another term to represent the physicians of Sarasota.  The Congressman has relentlessly rallied for physicians during each term.  Again, we appreciate his support of the issues addressed on behalf of the doctors in our county.

FMA PAC endorsed candidates won overwhelmingly throughout the State of Florida.Rubio

In the U.S. Senate race, FMA PAC endorsed candidate Marco Rubio easily defeated Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meek.

In the Florida Senate, the FMA PAC endorsed 13 candidates and posted a record of 13-0 (100% success rate).

In the Florida House, FMA PAC supported candidates won 71 out of 75 races (95% success rate).

Below is a full list of endorsed FMA PAC candidates and their results (W next to their name indicates they have won, an L indicates they have lost their election):
